COMETA will have regular calls for STSM (Short-Term Scientific Mission) and ITC (Inclusiveness Target Countries) Conference Grant applications.

What is STSM?

STSM (Short Term Scientific Mission) are exchange visits between researchers involved in a COMETA Action, allowing scientists to visit organisations and institutions in a country different from their affiliation one for the purpose of training, collaboration, and exchange of scientific knowledge and expertise. Their aim is to foster collaboration in excellent research infrastructures and share new techniques that may not be available in a participant’s home institution or laboratory. STSM is open to applicants from all career stages.

The following documents should be provided: 

• Application form,
• Letter of invitation from host (physical person or institute),
• CV including selected publications, 
• For PhD and master students only: letter of support from their supervisor.

What are the ITC Conference Grants? 

ITC Conference Grants are aimed at supporting Early Career Investigator and PhD students from Participating ITC to attend related conferences, events or conduct activities on the topic of the Action that are not organised by the COST Action.  Conference Grants are Open to Young Researches and Innovators (individuals <40 years old) with a primary affiliation in an institution located in Inclusive Target Countries (ITC) and Near Neighbour Countries (NNC), participating in our COST Action COMETA.

Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, North Macedonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey 

NNC list: 

Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, Georgia, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestinian, Russia*, Syria, Tunisia and Ukraine.

Applicants must submit their applications for ITC Conference Grants online before the deadline through the COST application form:

The following documents should be provided: 

• Application form,  
• Acceptance letter from the conference organisers (the invitation email or the automated one from an accepted abstract), 
• A copy of the abstract or poster submitted to the conference, 
• CV including selected publications, 
• For PhD and master students only: letter of support from their supervisor.
