WG1 - Theoretical framework, precision calculations and simulation

The goal of WG1 is to develop definitions of modelling standards for the measurements of multi-boson processes at the LHC and the delivery of precise Standard Model and new physics predictions. Tasks and activities include: surveying (simplified) new physics models of electroweak symmetry breaking and studies to assess relevance and sensitivity of potential combined multi-boson analyses in probing these theories; calculating Standard Model Effective Field Theory and Higgs Effective Fields Thoery predictions for several multi-boson processes, including higher order corrections; making precision predictions for multi-boson processes, and in particular for processes with polarized W or Z bosons and for HH production in gluon fusion, within the SM and in new physics theories, among others.

WG2 - Technological innovation in data analysis

The goal of WG2 is to develop software and data analysis protocols to maximize the sensitivity of multi-boson analyses at the Large Hadron Collider, via the knowledge transfer among theory, experiment and ML experts. Tasks and activities include: promoting the development of vector boson taggers and algorithms to extract vector boson polarizations; providing recommendations and toy implementations; promoting the development of novel tools for forward jet taggers, boosted object reconstruction and central-hadronic-activity veto algorithms to enhance the signal-to-background ratio, among others.

WG3 - Experimental Measurements

The goal of WG3 is to support the optimal development of multi-boson measurements at the Large Hadron Collider and coordinate activities in preparation of their combined interpretation. Tasks and activities include: validating and deploying tools developed by the Action within multi-boson analyses performed by the ATLAS and CMS experiments; defining common Effective Field Theory fiducial regions for cross-section measurements and harmonization of theoretical frameworks and tools used by ATLAS and CMS in multi-boson measurements; conducting sensitivity studies to assess observability of rare multi-boson processes, among others.

WG4 - Management and Event Organization

The goal of WG4 is to provide efficient coordination of the Action activities, effective communication with partners and Action members and regular reporting. Tasks and activities include: the organization and coordination of the Action events (meetings, workshops, schools); coordinating short term scientific missions; preparing scientific and financial reports of Action activities; administration and regular update of communication tools (website, mailing lists, GitHub repository…) among others.

WG5 - Inclusiveness and Outreach

The goal of WG5 is to encourage public awareness of fundamental research in particle physics, support improving gender balance of the field, and implementing of inclusion policies. Tasks and activities include: the maintenance of the public communication sections on website and social media; generation of content for the dissemination to the general public; organization of outreach events, keynotes for high-schools, and participation in scientific dissemination events; organization of informal COMETA-Get-Together and setup of required infrastructure (online platform, org. committee); organization of career events; and organization of infrastructure for discussions on inclusiveness issues.
